PERFORMER

Brian's theatrical career has spanned the stages of professional and community theatres across Ohio and Pennsylvania.

  • Brian performed recently in Ring of Fire: the Music of Johnny Cash (CATCo/Porthouse Theatre co-production). The production and Brian's performance received rave reviews from critics: the Columbus Dispatch wrote Brian can “not only sing soulfully…but also play musical instruments with sure-footed flair” and said the song “Cry, Cry, Cry is powerfully performed by Mueller”, while the Akron Breacon-Journal noted “Mueller is a standout whose vocal inflection… [has] the most distinctively Cash-like sound...[he has] a supple voice that is especially cool in “Cry, Cry, Cry”."

  • Brian's played several characters, including John Surratt, and several instruments, including guitar, banjo, and mandolin in Dobama Theatre's A Civil War Christmas - a widely praised production that went on to become the highest-grossing show in Dobama's history.

  • In Godspell at Cain Park's Alma Theater, Brian performed in the song “On the Willows” and played guitars in what critic Bob Abelman called a “superb on-stage band”. Brian has also played guitar, bass, keyboard, banjo, mandolin and ukulele in the pit orchestras of professional, community and educational productions of shows as varied as Quilters, Violet, Rent, Cats, Little Shop of Horrors, ...Spelling Bee, High School Musical, Cabaret, and Peter Pan.

  • Brian played Tommy Albright in Brigadoon (Rabbit Run), Topper and a Collecting Man in A Christmas Carol at Canton’s Players Guild Theatre, and Jacey Squires, barbershop tenor in The Music Man (Weathervane Playhouse). About this last role, one reviewer mused that “the barbershop quartet, which is a masterful musical conceit, was superb… [They] added a discovered suavity to the characters”.

  • Brian served as a soloist on multiple occasions with the Pittsburgh Concert Chorale, in choral works by composers including Brahms, Britten, and Hogan.
